Hey guys! Well, this is a video I created for when I went to the Calgary Expo, getting testimonies from volunteers, media guests, exhibitors, and con attendents on what they thought it meant to be a geek, or what being a geek meant to them.

I was really happy with the myriad of results, but as this was done for a friend of a friend of mine, I had to keep it under ten minutes. Maybe next year, I’ll make a longer version and try to get a wider array of people involved.

Enjoy!

This was a wonderful cosplayer who was waiting in line on Saturday during the Calgary Expo for her photo with Stan Lee. I love this particular Rogue costume because it’s one of the few jacket bodysuit costumes in superhero costumes that really works for me.

The other two are Firestar from Marvel, and Black Canary of DC, especially the outfit she had during her run with the Birds of Prey written by Gail Simone.

A gender-bent Captain Jack Harness wielding Mjǫlnir at the Calagry Expo, 2012.

Why? Because he IS worthy.

My only regret was not getting the absolutely wonderful male Councillor Troi cosplayer on Sunday. This dude had it down PAT, from the hair to the uniform that looked like he just stepped off the show’s set.

Hello everyone!

Now, I could not get a documentary done up on my experiences at the Calgary Expo 2012, but I was able to cobble together enough photographs and the footage that I did shoot to make this awesome little video.

The main music that you hear is Coming Home by Kirby Krackle, who were there with their own booth to celebrate their third album, and I was fortunate enough to have a few words with them as well.

I hope that everyone enjoys this video, and much thanks, once more, to my fellow volunteers for the hard work, the con-gorts for their understanding and support of this convention, and the lead organizers who helped to put this thing together.

Here’s Linh, super excited to be at the Calgary Expo while dressing fabulously. It’s how I found her, by looking out for the best dressed lady in the crowd

Here’s Linh getting accepted into the Sisterhood of Assassins with Ezio(?).

BEST. SHEPARD. COSPLAYER. EVER.

I don’t know how much work went into it, but WOW, that’s a great cosplayer!

It was an utterly insane weekend at the Calgary Expo, with lots of people, so I am that much more grateful for Jennie to have taken the time and let herself be interviewed by some random volunteer with a camera.

I had a great time talking with her and she is one heck of a classy lady to have made time for me. I am really looking forward to her digital downloads of her webcomic, so that I can collect ALL of the Devil’s Panties for my tablet.

Another picture from Calgary Expo, 2012.

I actually saw another cosplayer, I don’t remember from what blog or convention it was, that used the same idea as this one in creating the effect of her plasma powers, which was, I believe, a coloured shower squishy… thingy… I don’t know what they are, but you use them to rub and lather body wash in.
